About

The Botanical Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens on Madeira, with marvelous views overlooking the city of Funchal. Located on the Bom Sucesso Estate, the gardens and property date from 1881 and were created by the Reid family as a private park. Today the property is open to the public, hosting many international visitors daily. The gardens cover an area of 80,000 square meters and are home to a fascinating collection of plants. On the drive up the hill with your guide, you can enjoy magnificent views over the city. Once up in the Botanical Garden, your guide will provide you with enough time to visit the gardens, with admission tickets paid separately. In addition to all these attractions, the Botanical Garden also has a Museum of Natural History. On the way down from the garden you will be able to visit a variety of landmarks from different centuries, including the 15th century cathedral and the Municipal Square where the City Hall and the Jesuit Monastery are found.
