Journey to the depths of the underworld in this modern retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Follow the musical prodigy Orpheus as he ventures into the dark realm of Hadestown to rescue his beloved Eurydice from the King of the Underworld himself. Their story intertwines with that of Hades and Persephone, whose tumultuous relationship mirrors the changing seasons. Anaïs Mitchell, a celebrated singer-songwriter, and director Rachel Chavkin have collaborated to turn Mitchell's acclaimed concept album into an innovative musical. This genre-blending production combines modern American folk music with vintage New Orleans jazz to give a fresh perspective on an ancient epic story.
