About

There is a whole world in these gardens that most people never see. Jumping spiders smaller than a fingernail. Caterpillars that look like twigs. Fungi that grow all around. Bridgette Gower and her team have spent over 2,000 hours in the Cairns Botanic Gardens finding them, on this small group tour of only 8, they take you directly to them. This is a photographer-led exploration of the insects, spiders, reptiles, and fungi that live in the undergrowth and go unnoticed by most visitors. The routes are seasonal. Jumping spiders, mantids, butterflies, beetles, and moths are regular sightings. Your guide will help you identify each species and understand the ecosystems they are part of. Photography guidance is built in for all skill levels. Whether you use a smartphone or a dedicated camera, you will leave with shots worth keeping. Camera hire is available from A$40 - $80 across beginner, intermediate, and advanced options. Reserve your preferred option after booking and pay on the day.
