'Fajã' means a flat piece of land at the sea level formed by materials detached from the cliffs. You'll get to know Fajã dos Padres, a fertile and unique place that was owned by the jesuits (hence the name 'dos Padres') for more than 150 years. The experience starts with an incredible 3 minutes cable car trip that comfortably will transport you from Quinta Grande to Fajã dos Padres, along a huge cliff over 300 meters high. Meeting point on the bottom. You will walk along ancient paths opened along the orchards of subtropical fruit trees. During the tour you will get to know the story of this place, that is inhabited since the beginning of Madeira island colonisation. You'll learn the methods used for farming a number of subtropical fruits, some quite exotic.
